Holding ON to Him

Aruna M (Bengaluru, India)

This is my real life experience on how swami helped me to hold on to him to face the life challenges. My parents had got into swami’s fold around 1988. I was on my family way and I was expecting my first child in the month of October 1990. As per the tradition bangle function and “Seemantham” was arranged in the month of August. All the arrangements were made and all relatives were invited. We both being the eldest of our families there was a lot of excitement in the family. The previous day I went for a regular doctor visit. Since the doctor was not available my father took me to a Sathya Sai bhajan on our way back home. Swami had shown his presence in their house by blessing a lot of vibhuthi in all the photos. When I was there in the bhajan I felt uneasy. After reaching home I went to the doctor who is also a family friend. She checked me up and said to put everything on hold and asked me to get admitted in the hospital.

Since knowledge was limited we were not too worried, we just followed the instructions. Doctors said we need wait for 24 hours. Since landline phones were also not very common we couldn’t inform the relatives. So my parents fed everyone who visited the house. At the specified time bangles were put for me in the presence of my two aunts and the nurse in the hospital and obviously swami’s blessings. My husband was pursuing his higher studies at IIT Bombay and we were in Chennai. So we couldn’t change the dates since he did not have leave.

The next day “seemantham” was to be done. Since I was stable they allowed me to go ahead and asked me to take a lot of precautions. Everything went well. I was fine for the next two months. Though outwardly calm I had a tension at the back of my mind about the well-being of the baby. I have not expressed it to anyone about it. One day I had a dream where I am walking behind swami at Brindavan. He walks quickly around the tree and I followed him and suddenly he disappeared. He transformed into a lady wearing white saree and carrying a baby in her (His) hands. This gave me a lot of strength. I kept holding on to Him and this dream and had a very healthy baby on 29th October 1990.

Around the same period before my delivery, my Parents were adding another bedroom to the house. After the work started there were few things unsettling in the house. Everyone felt the vasthu of the house has got disturbed. My mother was very worried about it. Room with an attached tiled bathroom with a geyser got ready. In my dream Swami came out of the bathroom as though he is coming out after having a bath. This was a big re assurance for all of us that he will take care of everything.

I have one more incident to share with you all again which happened in the year 1989. I am the eldest daughter and I have two younger brothers. My first younger brother was pursuing Engineering at REC Bhopal. Malaria was very common in Bhopal and he too fell sick in the hospital. When he came back home to Chennai he was not able to stand also. As my parents believed in swami they all wanted to visit Puttaparthi along with my brother. They came to know Swami is in Whitefield. They all visited my house in Bangalore. We all visited Brindavan. When we reached Brindavan we came to know that Swami left for Puttaparthi the same morning. They had decided to go to Puttaparthi along with my brother. Since he was so weak he started yelling saying “I don’t want to go anywhere. Why swami is making us run around”. Then they left for Puttaparthi. Very soon Swami came in my dream and told me “Why is he so angry? Tell your brother that I am like his father”. Later there were some complications with his eyes also. But as promised swami solved all his health problems and took care of him like a father. This experience ensured us what happens when we Hold on to him steadfast come so what may. True to his quote “Why fear when I am here”.
