How can we but not Hold on to Him

S Ramakrishnan (Kuwait)

Recently my daughter, son in law and the grandson visited us from USA. The grandson is one year and 10 months old and loves music and bhajans. The parents play for him Sai Bhajans most of the time in the Audio format at home. However, as the boy takes more than an hour or hour and a half for consuming food sitting on a high chair, either the father or mother feed him with lot of patience and their only recourse to keep him cooperate and open his mouth is to play video of rhymes from You Tube. This has become a regular affair. The parents however are very selective and exercise control in the choice of the Rhymes over the You Tube video to show only good visuals. One of the Rhymes which the child enjoys goes like this … … Father finger, Father finger where are you. Here I am Here I am How do you do? Mother finger Mother finger.. etc…

I had the burning desire that the child should listen to Swamy’s names rather than usual rhymes, hence I made bold to tell the parents one day to sing the rhyme slightly changing the words so that the child registers the Gods’ names instead of ‘father finger, baby finger’ etc. The lyrics with the same tune came out as below:

Narayana Narayana Where are You?
Here I am, Here I am, I am within you.
Namah Shivaya, Namah Shivaya Where are you?
Here I am, Here I am, I am within you
Gowri Mata, Gowri Mata where are you?
Here I am, Here I am, I am within you
Lord Ganesha, Lord Ganesha where are you?
Here I am, Here I am, I am within you
Subrahmanya, Subrahmanya where are you?
Here I am Here I am, I am within you
Sai Baba, Sai Baba, Where are You?
Here I am Here I am, I am within you.

Then it occurred to me later as to what the child will think of the Gods when they say they are inside, will he not ask them what they were doing inside his Body? Accordingly further lines flowed as below:

All the Gods All the Gods, what you do inside? (for which the Gods answer)
We are guiding you, guarding you, protecting you … (The audio of this Rhyme is attached)

The child no doubt picked up the first line of the rhyme ‘Narayana Narayana Where are you’ and subsequently started singing this line during his play time ...

After about two to three weeks when I was browsing the Internet for some material for the Bal Vikas Class came across a poster from Radio Sai which took me completely by surprise as Swamy’s quote read,

Quote

If you worship Me with faith and love, I will protect you, guard you and guide you.

This is the first time I am coming across this poster and how come the three words got set in the Rhymes exactly as Swamy has said. There could have been any other words such as Saving you, Leading you etc. which were appropriate too. But surprisingly, the words guiding, guarding and protecting came up through my thoughts. This means every thought flashing through us has origin in Swamy who puts these words in us.

In order to prove that He has His hold on us firmly rather than our holding on to Him, I happen to listen to Radio Sai interview by Br. S. Kumar with Br. Prusty. I just listened to it today while coming back from the office where Br. Kumar was explaining that for Swamy’s 60th Birthday, boys chose some songs and a friend of Br. Kumar wrote a beautiful Telugu Song and requested Br. Kumar to compose tune and sing as well. Br. Kumar and another friend sat through during day time and tuned the Pallavi and Anupallavi for this Song. In the evening Swamy asked everyone what they had planned and the turn of Br. Kumar came and he showed the lyrics to Swamy. Swamy had asked for the Raga of the song. Br. Kumar told Swamy the name of the Raga which was Bhageshwari. To the utter surprise of Br. Kumar and the other boy, Swamy sang the exact tune right there. The words ‘Pavalintsu Partheesha’ can be sung in different tunes in the same Raga Bhageshwari but Swamy sang the lines exactly the same way they had composed in the afternoon. Br. Kumar had no doubt that whatever ideas came to him, it came directly from Swamy. Br. Kumar was very happy that the tune that came to them is the one which Swamy bestowed on them.

All the above Sai-incidences made me realize that any talents we have is purely His Grace and Swamy has complete control over our thoughts. How can we not hold on to Him knowing that we can do nothing ourselves without His hold on us!

Thank you and loving Sai Ram,
Team Radio Sai
