The most effective discipline that one can adopt to attain the highest goal in life is the control and conquest of five senses. The eye ever seeks the vile, just as a motorist views an ugly advertisement, not withstanding the danger to his own life. The ear craves for scandal and salacious stuff; it does not persuade you to attend discourses that will help you in spiritual development. When someone pours abuse on another, the two ears attain maximum concentration. To avoid the errors and evils that the eyes, ears, the tongue, the mind and the hands can commit, they must be held in check so that they may not ruin the mind as well as the body of the person.
