People who are young have to make a long journey in this train called society. The older people in this train will alight at the stations enroute. So the young people should be prepared to take the necessary steps to rectify the defects in this train. You must also set right the faults in your motherland, and imprint good and noble ideas in your mind. Today if you think that a particular action your elders are doing is not right, you should not yourselves do the same thing when you grow up. When you become older, you should put into action what you now think are the good actions of your elders. What you regard as sin should be kept away and you should never participate in them. The harmony in the words you utter, the deeds you do and the thoughts you get is your true penance (tapas) in daily living.

- Summer Roses on Blue Mountains 1976, Ch 11.

Sathya Sai Baba
The foremost goal the modern youth should set before themselves is to sow the
seeds of love, rear the plant of forbearance and distribute the fruit of peace to society
through dedicated service. - Baba
