In fishing, the angler uses a rod and a line; that line has a float from which hangs inside the water a sharp hook with a worm. The fish is drawn by the worm to the hook, the float shakes, the angler feels the pull of the fish on the line, and he draws it on the land, where it is helpless and unable to breathe. Your body is the rod, your yearning or the eager longing is the line, your intelligence is the float, discrimination is the hook and knowledge is the worm; a clever angler thus catches the fish of the Divine (Atma)! When you get spiritual wisdom, you are drawn to the Divine (Kaivalyam). Kaivalyam is the state in which you experience the Lord as all-comprehensive, as Will, as Activity, as Bliss, as Intelligence and as Existence. To be firmly established in this Divine State, you must suppress your ignorance (tamas), sublimate your passions (rajas) and assiduously cultivate purity (sathwa).

– Divine Discourse, Feb 26, 1968.

Sathya Sai Baba
Open the gates of wisdom, tear the veil of ignorance, and enter
the abode of Divine Bliss. Rest in peace forever. - Baba
