"SAMA" was an initiative of the students of Bhagawan's college to ruminate on Swami through music during the prayer sessions in the college. It started way back in the nineties. Lovely songs would be sung and beautiful sentiments would be expressed musically sending all the students to raptures of divine ecstasy.

Truly, nothing can move your heart and bless you with moments of divine communion as effortlessly as music can do. Bhagawan Himself said in December 25, 1997, "Music is holy. It reflects the state of one's inner being. It can move the Lord Himself."

Those who have lived with Bhagawan have in fact witnessed this at close quarters. One soulful rendering and Bhagawan would fill the heart of the devotee with tremendous grace. To relive those musical moments of bliss is the purpose of this series.

As you hear these devotional compositions, pregnant with deep meaning and specially created in the Radio Sai studios, we hope it will help you to melt away in devotion to the Lord and become one with Him in joy and love.

We will endeavour to offer a new song on our website before every major festival of Prasanthi Nilayam so that we can get into the "bhava" before the celebrations begin.

The first one was a soulful song in the sweet language, Malayalam on the occasion of the festival of Onam. You can listen to the song here:
Karunya Sagarane.

As we gear up to gleefully celebrate the God of all Gaiety, Beauty and Sublimity, here is a scintillating song to energize your veins with unbridled exuberance.

Everybody has their favourite pose of Ganesha. For a moment, just let free that posture of the Lord in your mind. And imagine your Ganesha becoming fluid and vivid, vibrant and vivacious, and beginning to dance! So exceedingly delightful is the dance of your delectable Lord that you just cannot contain the ecstasy of that experience, you too unconsciously begin to match His steps! You are mad in divine exultation! You need no heaven - it is as if all the stars have come down because there is nothing on earth or in the fourteen worlds as divinely rhapsodical and riveting as this! That is the magical world of Natya Ganapati!

This song, our second offering of SAMA, attempts to transport you to this ethereal world of elephantine bliss.

Vaje Mrudanga Tal Veena

vājē mr̥duṅga ṭāḷavīṇā, yērē nācata gaurīgaṇā
gaṇapatī bāppā mōrayā, maṅgalamūrtī mōrayā
nāca nāca rē gajānanā
gaṇapatī bāppā mōrayā, maṅgalamūrtī mōrayā

The Mridanga, cymbals and veena play, come dancing Mother Gauri's Ganesha
O Lord Ganesha bless us, O auspicious One, bless us,
Dance O Elephant-faced Lord, dance.
O Lord Ganesha bless us, O auspicious One, bless us,

Tiny bells tied to Your feet O little One,
You sway along gracefully O adorable One,
All like Your amusing ways,
You bring joy O Son of Gowri
Come, come rolling with Your baby steps…
O Son of Shiva who entwines us with Your Love.

O Lord Ganesha bless us, O auspicious One, bless us,
Dance O Elephant-faced Lord, dance.

tujhyā cintanī jamalē sārē khālī ālē nabhātīla tārē

gaṇapatī bāppā mōrayā, maṅgalamūrtī mōrayā

nāca nāca rē gajānanā

We have all gathered to contemplate on You,
Just like stars from the sky above have descended on earth
The air around dances vivaciously
As You fill every flower & leaf with Your presence
White like camphor, O Redeemer of the world,
One who resides in Ballaleshwar.

O Lord Ganesha bless us, O auspicious One, bless us,
Dance O Elephant-faced Lord, dance.

jaidēv jaidēv jaidēv jaidēv jai maṅgalamūrtī

O harbinger of happiness, Dispeller of sorrow, Remover of obstacles
Who spreads love everywhere as His blessing
Who is adorned with the fragrant paste Sindur all over the body
Who wears a pearl necklace around the neck
Victory to the Lord who is auspiciousness personified
The mere sight of Him would fulfil all desires.

tū dēvān̄cā dēva kharā,
ādinātha tū maṅgalakārā

O God of all Gods, the first among Gods, the bestower of Auspiciousness
The Source of nectarine stream of Grace,
You are the Saviour from all the problems of this world,
Come O Remover of obstacles, Come O Lord of the World,
Come O Lord of wealth & prosperity.

O Lord Ganesha bless us, O auspicious One, bless us,
Dance O Elephant-faced Lord, dance.
